Sophomore Mallory Leitner and senior Kaia Lill were chosen for the MIAC All-Conference Team, while junior Maria Watt earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors.
Concordia will face St. Olaf in the quarterfinals of the MIAC volleyball tournament on Monday, Nov. 6. at 7 p.m. at Bob Gelle Court at Skoglund Center in Northfield. The Cobbers earned their first MIAC playoff appearance since 2016 and 17th in program history.
Concordia was never able to overtake St. Olaf in the decisive third and fourth sets in their MIAC quarterfinal match in Northfield and lost 3-1.
Concordia made sure there would be no drama in clinching its first MIAC playoff berth since 2016. The Cobbers flexed their muscles at the end of all three sets as they swept Carleton 25-21, 25-22, 25-22.
Concordia checked all the boxes in their final non-conference match of the season as they swept Crown 25=17, 25-9, 25-17.
The Cobbers swept their two matches over the weekend and Kaia Lill and Mallory Leitner swept the MIAC Player of the Week honors on Monday.
Voncordia posted wins over Bethel and Augsburg in a span of 21 hours and went from a 4-way tie for fifth place to a 3-way tie for third place.
In the scope of wins in 2023 for Concordia, their 5-set victory over Bethel was Himalayan. The Cobbers overcame a 1-0 deficit and took a 2-1 lead before the Royals rallied to tie the match at 2-2. CC then won four of the first five points in the fifth set and claimed the 3-2 win.
Concordia dropped a pair of matches to Wis.-River Falls and Minn.-Morris in the final non-conference contests of the year.
The road was unkind to the Cobbers for the second straight match. Concordia was swept for the second time in four days, falling 25-12, 25-20, 25-15 at No.19-ranked Gustavus.
Concordia was swept (25-17, 30-28, 25-20) in Duluth by St. Scholastica.
For the second straight match, Concordia won the opening set and then dropped three straight to lose 3-1.
Concordia finished the month of September by running its conference win streak to three matches. The Cobbers used their new-found experience to outlast Hamline and post a 3-1 (25-15, 26-24, 25-27, 25-20) victory.
Concordia senior setter Kaia Lill (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck) was named the MIAC Specialist of the Week for helping the Cobbers go 2-0 to start conference play for the first time since 2015.
Concordia swept St. Mary's in a conference match but then lost a 5-set thriller to Central in a non-conference battle. The Cobbers are now 2-0 in MIAC play for the first time since 2015.
