COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (4/16/26)---It just another day at the office for the Cobbers at the CSB Invitational. You know the deal – heaps of event wins, oodles of Top 3 finishes and a wealth of season-best marks.
Where should we start? Let's go with event winners.
Concordia came away with wins in a middle distance event, distance event, throwing event and jumping event which helped the team finish third in the final standings.
Londyn Ames found her indoor form and bested the 26-runner field in the 1500 meters. She ran a 4:46.86 which is a personal best and the fifth fastest time in the MIAC this season.
Sophomore Ashley Nelson, who was the MIAC Track Athlete of the Week on Apr. 7 had another award-winning performance as she recorded the victory in the 10,000 meters. Nelson ran away with the race and crossed the line over a minute in front of the second-place finisher. Nelson clocked a career-best time of 38:38.00. Her mark moves he all the way into the No.3 spot in the conference.
If you guessed that a Cobber would win the javelin, give yourself a pat on the back. If you guessed it would be Grace Ciarrochi, you are definitely a Cobber track & field guru.
Ciarrochi beat out a field that includes teammates Kaia Gack, Lauren Selle and Kennison Azure with a throw of 119-10. Her personal-best mark is No.4 in the MIAC this year.
Gack, Selle and Aure also posted season-best distance to give Javelin University five of the Top 6 distances in the league this year.
First-year, 2-sport athlete Kaili Malvey was the fourth member of the Cobbers to earn an event win. She recorded a distance of 37-00.25 in the triple jump and won the event by over a foot. Mailvey's distance is a season best and third farthest in the MIAC this year.
Concordia received runner-up finishes from Genevieve Dabout, Emily Rengo, Kyla Nygaard and Josie Brown.
Dabout was second in the discus with a season-best mark of 127-01. Rengo led the trio of track second-place finishers. She was second in the 200 meters at 25.68 while Nygaard claimed her runner-up finish in the 400 meters with a time of 57.85 and Brown finished second in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:03.25. All three of the times are season bests and push Rengo, Nygaard and Brown into the Top 6 of the MIAC.
Concordia will look to continue its outdoor success when they head west into North Dakota to compete in the Viking Twilight hosted by Valley City State on Tuesday, Apr. 21.
