MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/24/26)---The saying goes, "go big or go home". Well, the Cobber big-man duo of Jacob Cook and Jackson Loge went big and sent Carleton home in the quarterfinals of the MIAC playoffs.
The two interior players combined for 46 points and 29 rebounds in the Cobbers' 74-52 win over the Knights.
The victory is the first in the playoffs for Concordia since 2004. The win is also the 20th of the season for CC which marks only the third 20-win season in program history. The Cobbers are now 20-6 on the season.
How dominant were Cook and Loge? They helped the Cobber inside game outscore Carleton 52-18 in points in the paint. The pair also used their ability to get quality looks from inside the paint to shoot a combined 57.5% (19-for-33) from the floor.
Concordia started slowly in their first home playoff game since 2016. The Cobbers trailed 10-2 after the first 4:30 of play and it looked like CC would have to play catch-up against the Knights for the third straight game this season.
The tide turned midway through the opening half when Concordia started to find openings to get the ball inside. CC went on a 12-0 run that turned a 1-point deficit at 20-19 into an 11-point advantage at 31-20 with 5:00 left in the opening period of play.
The Cobbers kept Carleton at arm's length for the remainder of the period and took a 36-27 lead into the break.
The Knights trimmed the lead down to three points in the first 3-minutes of the final half, but a free throw from Payton Schell and a 3-ball from Cook gave the Cobbers a 2-possession lead and cut the short-lived Carleton momentum.
The final push for Concordia came at the 9:30 when they held a 50-44 lead. CC scored on five of its next possessions which led to an 11-0 streak and put the game to bed with just over 5-minutes to play.
The Cobbers shot 50.8% (30-for-59) from the floor and 30.0% (3-for-10) from outside the arc. With the inside game firing on all cylinders, Concordia didn't have to go to 3-point line and finished with its fewest 3-point attempts of the season.
Carleton (15-11) connected on 33.9% (19-for-56) of their shots from the floor and 37.5% (9-for-24) of their tries from distance.
The 52 total points for the Knights are the second fewest in a single game this year.
Cook led all players in scoring while Loge was tops in rebounding. Cook finished with 26 points and 14 boards, while Loge dropped 20 points and 15 rebounds on Carleton.
It was the fifth straight double-double for Cook and 14th of the season while Loge amassed his 11th double-double of the year.
Peyton Belka went for nine points and six assists while Schell came away with eight points and four rebounds.
Concordia's next stop in the playoffs will be Collegeville where they will take on No.2 seed St. John's on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.
