MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/04/26)---Josie Brown (So., Saco, Mont.) barely missed on one honor but connected on another as she was named the MIAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Brown earned the conference weekly honor by virtue of her near record-setting performance in the 400-meter hurdles at the Cobb Open on Saturday.
It marks the first time in her career that Brown has earned MIAC Athlete of the honors and she becomes the third Concordia student-athlete to receive a conference weekly award.
Brown ran the fastest time in the MIAC in the 400-meter hurdles on Saturday when she covered the distance in 1:02.08. Her time narrowly missed breaking the school record of 1:01.72 set by Cobber Hall of Famer Tracy Bernsten in 1995.
While Brown's finishing time didn't earn her a school record, it did – most likely – punch her ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championship Meet in La Crosse, Wis. Brown is No.15 on the DIII national list with 22 athletes qualifying for nationals.
Brown also ran a MIAC Championship-qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles, where she clocked a personal-best time of 15.80.
