Nygaard Named MIAC Track Athlete Of The Week
Concordia senior Kyla Nygaard (Maple Grove, Minn.) was named the MIAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week after her top conference time in the 800 meters at the SDSU Indoor Classic on Friday.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/17/26)---Concordia senior Kyla Nygaard (Maple Grove, Minn.) was named the MIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week after her top conference time in the 800 meters at the SDSU Indoor Classic on Friday.
It is the first MIAC weekly award for Nygaard and she becomes the second Cobber athlete to earn conference athlete of the week honors this season. Teammate Abby Lovelace earned MIAC Field Athlete of the Week honors on Dec. 16.
Nygaard posted a time of 2:12.99 on the 300 meter track at SDSU and finished seventh in the 800 meters which featured 58 competitors, most of whom were from NCAA Division I and II schools.
Nygaard's time on the 300 meter track converts to 2:14.52 on a 200 meter track which the MIAC uses for their rankings and championship meet. Nygaard's converted time in No.1 in the conference this season and her mark is No.17 in Division III.
Nygaard also holds the No.1 time in the MIAC in the 600 meters this season.
