ST. PAUL, Minn. (4/5/25)---Due to the winter-like temperatures and wind, Concordia only took a handful of athletes to the Hamline Invitational.
While the quantity wasn't present in St. Paul, the quality was as three different middle-distance and distance runners posted Cobber all-time Top 25 marks.
Kyla Nygaard, Kelyn Henry-Perlich and Ashley Nelson all climbed up the charts of the Cobber all-time marks and all three came home with Top 10 finishes in a meet that featured Division I, II and III athletes.
Nygaard continues to impress in her new-found talent in the 800 meters. Last weekend, she clocked a 2:19.78 in her first-ever collegiate 800 race at St. John's. How did she top that? By dropping over 6 seconds and crossing the line in a time of 2:13.59 at Hamline. That mark won the event, is the fastest in the MIAC this season, No.17 in Division III and places her fifth on the school's all-time list.
Meg Shercliffe also came away with a Top 10 finish in the 800 at Hamline. She ran a 2:27.88 and was 10th in the race.
Henry-Perlich made her mark in the 1500 meters. She ran a PR time of 4:54.88, which was good for third place at Hamline. Her time is the fastest of her career and No.2 in the conference.
Senior Drew Frolek was 12th in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:12.23.
Nelson braced the weather in the 5K and came away with a season-best time of 18:53.65. Her finishing mark is No.9 in the MIAC this season and No.15 in the history of the Cobber program.
Concordia had two athletes record Top 10 finishes in field events. Brooke Kangas placed sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 135-07. That mark gets her into the Top 15 of the conference this season.
