Gustavus Adolphus Sweeps Concordia 7-0 in MIAC Match
The Cobbers fell 7-0 to Gustavus Adolphus College in a MIAC women’s tennis matchup on Saturday afternoon.
SAINT PETER (3/14/26) – The Cobbers fell 7-0 to Gustavus Adolphus College in a MIAC women's tennis matchup on Saturday afternoon.
Gustavus took control early by sweeping all three doubles matches to earn the opening point of the dual. The Cobber duo of Erin Borchard and Tanis Lee dropped a 6-0 decision to Kaya De Bruijn and Karina Elvestrom at No. 1 doubles. At the No. 2 spot, Shireen Durrani and Alyssa Sommerfeld fell 6-2 to Lanie Davis and Molly Austin. Ava Lowman and Annalise Skrade battled at No. 3 doubles but were defeated 6-3 by Jemima Vitou and Ella De Young.
The Gusties carried their momentum into singles play and won all six matches in straight sets. Tanis Lee faced Karina Elvestrom at No. 1 singles but was defeated 6-0, 6-1. Alyssa Sommerfeld also fell in straight sets at No. 2 singles, dropping a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Kaya De Bruijn.
At No. 3 singles, Shireen Durrani put together Concordia's strongest singles effort of the afternoon, winning four games in the second set before falling 6-0, 6-4 to Molly Austin. Erin Borchard lost 6-0, 6-0 to Noor Omar at No. 4 singles, while Annalise Skrade dropped a 6-0, 6-1 match to Lanie Davis at No. 5. Ava Lowman rounded out the lineup at No. 6 singles but was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Allison Szalay.
Concordia will look to bounce back March 20th in their match against Saint Mary's.
