Cobbers Rally To Earn Hard-Fought Win At St. Scholastica
Concordia-Moorhead women’s tennis earned a hard-fought 4–3 victory over St. Scholastica on Sunday morning, rallying behind a strong singles performance to secure the road win.
DULUTH, Minn. (2/15/26) – Concordia-Moorhead women's tennis earned a hard-fought 4–3 victory over St. Scholastica on Sunday morning, rallying behind a strong singles performance to secure the road win.
The Cobbers dropped two of the three doubles matches, putting them in an early 1–0 hole. Erin Borchard and Tanis Lee battled at No. 1 doubles but fell 1–6, while the No. 3 pairing of Ava Lowman and Annalise Skrade came up just short in a competitive 5–7 matchup. Concordia's lone doubles point came from the No. 2 duo of Shireen Durrani and Alyssa Sommerfeld, who produced a composed 6–4 win to keep the Cobbers within striking range.
Concordia responded with poise in singles play, where the team collected the four match wins needed to flip the result. The Cobbers' depth and consistency across the lineup proved decisive as they sealed the 4–3 team victory.
Concordia quickly flipped the momentum as singles began.
At the top of the lineup, Tanis Lee delivered a straight-sets win, outlasting Paula Sendele 7–5, 7–6 to even the team score. Shireen Durrani followed with a decisive 6–3, 6–0 victory at No. 3 singles that gave the Cobbers their first lead of the match.
The most dramatic point of the day came at No. 4, where Erin Borchard survived a three‑set battle, winning the opening set 7–6 before dropping the second 6–7. She then closed out the match with a clutch 10–7 super‑tiebreak to deliver one of the tightest victories of the dual. Annalise Skrade added the Cobbers' fourth point with a steady 6–2, 7–5 win at No. 5 singles.
St. Scholastica earned victories at No. 2 and No. 6 singles, but Concordia's depth in the middle of the lineup proved decisive as the Cobbers secured the 4–3 team win.
The Cobbers return home next Sunday when they host St. Catherine at 12:00 p.m.
