Cobbers Honor Seniors During Final Home Meet
Concordia finished off their “regular season” by celebrating their five seniors during their final dual meet of the year. Rachel Bringle, Maddi Barlage, Kiernan Darling, Hailey Jaeger and Haley Imholte were honored by the Cobbers amidst their meet with DII University of Mary on Saturday.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/25/25)---Concordia finished off their "regular season" by celebrating their five seniors during their final dual meet of the year.
Rachel Bringle, Maddi Barlage, Kiernan Darling, Hailey Jaeger and Haley Imholte were honored by the Cobbers amidst their meet with DII University of Mary on Saturday. Concordia had a pair of wins on the day but ended up falling 150-65 to the Marauders.
Darling and sophomore Callie Metsala led the team as the duo posted the event wins. Darling won both sections of the 1-meter diving competition and Metsala swam away with the victory in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Darling opened her final home meet by recording a score of 157.90 in the 5-dive mandatory portion of the 1-meter competition. She backed that up with a mark of 209.20 in the 6-dive optional section.
Darling heads into the MIAC Championship Meet seeded seventh in the 1-meter dive.
Metsala swam a 2:38.31 in the 200-yard breaststroke. It was her first time swimming the event this season and her time was 6 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
Metsala also finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.67. That mark puts her in the Top 25 of the MIAC this season.
Jaeger capped her Memorial Auditorium pool career by posting a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. She touched the wall in 2:08.27. Jaeger was also fourth in the 100-yard freestyle at 58.07.
Bringle also stepped up in the 200-yard freestyle. She came through with a season-best time in the event and placed fourth in the event with a mark of 2:24.73.
Imholte had the finishing kick of the day when she powered her way to a time of 2:52.53 in the 200-yard breaststroke. She was able to outkick a swimmer from UMary and placed fourth in the event.
First-year athlete Leah Enedy provided the look into the future for the Cobber swimming and diving team as she recorded the top time drop of any CC swimmer at the meet. She clocked a 5:24.57 in the 400-yard individual medley which puts her into the Top 30 of the MIAC.
Christina Moore and Tinsley Porter earned crucial team points for Concordia by competing in first- time events. Moore swam a 13:57.01 in her first-ever 1000-yard freestyle to earn four team points.
Porter competed in the 400-yard individual medley for the first time and placed fifth with a time of 6:11.57.
Concordia's top relay showing came in the meet-opening 200-yard medley relay. The crew of Jaeger, Imholte, Metsala and Enedy swam a 1:59.43 and placed second.
Concordia will have a 3-week break to train and taper for the MIAC Championship Meet which takes place on Feb. 19-22 at the University of Minnesota.
