Cobbers Place Five On NWCA Individual Scholar All-American List
Concordia had five student-athletes receive National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Men’s Individual Scholar All-American honors.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/24/26)---Concordia had five student-athletes receive National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Men's Individual Scholar All-American honors.
Sam Dioszeghy (Jr., Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS), Will Freking (Jr., Alpha, Minn./Jackson County Central HS), Zaniyan Iron Eyes (Fr., Pine Ridge, S.D./Lakota Tech), Jack Major (So., Cold Spring, Minn./ROCORI HS) and Mason Swanson (Sr., Willmar, Minn.) all received the NWCA top scholar award for the 2025-26 season.
The Cobbers have now had at least one NWCA Scholar All-American in 18 straight seasons.
Dioszeghy earns his second straight Scholar All-American award while Freking, Iron Eyes, Major and Swanson all claim the honor for the first time in their careers.
In order to qualify as a Scholar All-American, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 GPA over the last two semesters or hold a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. Athletically, they have to place in the Top 8 at the regional tournament or compete in at least 15 matches with a win percentage above 66 percent.

- Won the Northland Open, finished second in both the MSU Moorhead Dragon Open Red Division and North Country Invite Gold Division
Will Freking
- 3.92 GPA
- Major: Business and Masters in Business Analytics
- 16-14 in 2026 with five pins
- Finished eighth at the NCAA Region VII Meet and placed second at the Cobber Last Shot Open
Zaniyan Iron Eyes
- 3.82 GPA
- Major: Political Science
- 13-5 in 2026 with six pins
- Won the North Country Invite Gold Division and was fifth in the Freshman Division at the Augsburg Invite
Jack Major
- 3.98 GPA
- Major: Biology and Healthcare Leadership
- 19-16 in 2026 with 10 pins
- Finished sixth at the NCAA Region VII Meet and placed third in the North Country Invite Gold Division and third in the UW-Stevens Point Pointer Open Silver Division
Mason Swanson
- 3.20 GPA
- Major: Business Management
- 19-11 in 2026 with five pins
- Finished eighth at the NCAA Region VII Meet, won the gold division at the North Country Invitational and the red division at the MSU Moorhead Dragon Open
