Cobbers Tamed By Cougars in Final Dual of 2025
Concordia finished off the 2025 portion of its schedule by falling 34-13 at Division II Univ. of Sioux Falls. Kie Anderson, Nate Kisgen and Will Freking picked up the wins for the Cobbers.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (12/13/25)---Concordia finished off the 2025 portion of its schedule by falling 34-13 at Division II Univ. of Sioux Falls.
The Cobbers were also scheduled to compete against Briar Cliff but the Chargers were forced to cancel the dual meet after having transportation problems.
Concordia and Sioux Falls traded bonus point wins to start their dual. CC lost by pin at 125 but then Kie Anderson brought the Cobbers back to within two points when he scored a 13-3 major decision at 133.
Anderson was able to outwork his opponent in the second and third periods of the match. He trailed 3-1 heading into the second period but then got an escape, takedown and 4-point near fall in the middle period to grab a 9-3 lead. Anderson finished off the 10-point win by getting another takedown in the third frame and adding a point for riding time.
The win improved Anderson's record to 5-4 on the year.
The Cougars took control of the dual by winning the next five bouts – with all five finishing with bonus points for USF.
The Cobbers were able to stop the win streak when senior Nate Kisgen came away with a narrow 12-11 win at 184. Kisgen, who was competing in his first meet since the season opener on Nov. 1, put up a pair of takedowns in the first period to bolt to a 6-2 lead. He added a third takedown in the second period and then held on in the third with a pair of escapes and the match-winning point coming via riding time.
Concordia's final team points came at 197 where Will Freking earned the victory by forfeit.
The Cobbers also had 25 extra matches with the Cougars in order to give the entire CC team some experience.
Senior Xander Spray led CC with a pair of wins in the extra matches. He posted identical 15-0 tech falls at 141.
Kaleb Lodahl, Cleighton Hoban, Aiden Downing, Stetson Gisselback, Isaiah Schmitz, Brody Duke and Sam Dioszeghy all picked up single wins in the extra matches.
The Cobbers will return to action after the holiday break when they compete in the prestigious NWCA National Duals Meet on Jan. 9-10.
