4 Titles And 13 Podium Finishes At MSUM Dragon Open
Concordia had four wrestlers win weight class titles and came away with 13 podium finishes at the MSUM Dragon Open.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/7/24)---The quartet of Ty Bisek, Kie Anderson, Jack Major and Will Freking led Concordia at the annual MSU Moorhead Dragon Open.
The four Cobbers all claimed weight-class titles and were a part of a group of 13 wrestlers that all posted podium finishes.
The open tournament is the final multi-team invite for Concordia before the holiday break.
Bisek was the lone competitor in the Red Division for Concordia in a meet that featured the majority of participating teams from NCAA Division I and II programs.
Bisek cruised through his first two matches before staging a huge comeback in the championship bout at 141. He opened the days with a pin at 3:36 over Jayce Luna from St. Cloud State. He doubled up on wins over Huskie wrestlers by recording a 9-0 major decision in the semifinals against Aoci Bernard.
Bisek had one of the most dramatic matches of the entire tournament in the title bout against Tyson Peach of South Dakota State. Bisek fell behind 7-1 heading into the third period but then came away with an escape and a pair of takedowns to tie the match at 7-7. Bisek won the title by virtue of the bonus point for riding time.
Bisek is now 11-1 on the season with his only loss coming as a medical forfeit in the championship bout of the Augsburg Invite.
Anderson went 3-0 to win the championship of the 133-lb White Division. He posted a 15-0 tech fall in the semifinals and beat Kenton Cooke of DI South Dakota State 8-4 in the finals match.
The win was Anderson's first weight-class title of the year and he is now 9-5 for the year.
Major continued his success in his first year of college wrestling. He went 3-0 to earn the championship at 149 in the White Division. It was his third straight podium finish. He won a 15-5 major decision in his opener and then claimed an 8-4 decision in the semifinals. Major had to rally in the third period to beat teammate Jackson Marr in the championship match.

Freking recorded his first collegiate weight-class title by posting three straight wins by pin at 197 in the White Division. He opened with a pin over Joshua Mitchell of St. John's at the 2:02 mark of the first period. Freking doubled up on his pin total with a win over Isaac Pierce of Minnesota North-Itasca in the semifinals. He finished the meet with a pin at 55 seconds against Seth Meyer of Ridgewater CC.
Marr and Xander Spray had the other Top 3 finishes for CC on the day. Marr went 2-1 at 149 with his only loss coming to Major.
Spray was 3-1 at 133 in the White Division. His only loss came against Kie Anderson and then Spray came away with a 15-0 tech fall in the consolation semifinals and a pin at 1:22 in the third-place match over Thomas Holmquist of St. John's.
Sam Dioszeghy finished fourth at 285 in the White Division in his very first meet of the season. The sophomore, who was an All-Conference offensive lineman for the Cobber football team in the fall, tied for the most wins by any CC wrestler on the day. He went 4-1 with two pins and a major decision.
Concordia will finish off the 2024 portion of its schedule when it hosts Univ. of Sioux Falls in the first dual meet of the season on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m.
