Wagers, Metcalf Lead Cobbers' MIAC Postseason Parade
Maya Metcalf was named the MIAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, Kim Wagers was named the MIAC Coach of the Year and Molly Musland, Taya Jeffrey, Taylor Safranski and Kaitlyn Rohloff also earned conference postseason honors.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/04/26)---It was a banner conference award postseason for MIAC regular-season champion Cobbers.
Sophomore Maya Metcalf (West Fargo, N.D./West Fargo Sheyenne HS) pulled off the unprecedented double by being named the MIAC Offensive AND Defensive Player of the Year, Kim Wagers was named the MIAC Coach of the Year and four other players earned conference postseason honors.
In addition to her Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year award, Metcalf was also named to the MIAC All-Conference and All-Playoff Teams. Joining Metcalf on the All-Conference Team was senior guard Molly Musland (LaMoure, N.D.). Fellow seniors Taya Jeffrey (Albert Lea, Minn.) and Taylor Safranski (Fargo, N.D./Fargo Davies HS) were placed on the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team and first-year guard Kaitlyn Rohloff (Hancock, Minn.) joined Metcalf on the All-Playoff Team.

The five players earning MIAC postseason honors is the most in program history for Concordia. All five players earn conference honors for the first time in their careers, while Wagers earned her second Coach of the Year recognition in the past four seasons.
The five players helped Concordia win its first MIAC regular season championship since 2013 and guided CC to a 16-2 record in conference play and a 23-4 overall mark. The 23 wins are the most since 1990.
Metcalf gives the Cobbers its first MIAC Defensive Player of the Year award winner since the league went to the split offensive and defensive honors in 2023. She is the second Concordia player in the past three seasons to be named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Year as Carlee Sieben won the award in 2024.
Overall, the Cobbers have now had nine major MIAC postseason award winners.
Wagers, who is the architect of Concordia's recent surge back to the top of the MIAC and into the national scene, also earned coach of the year honors in 2023.
Wagers had guided the Cobbers to four consecutive conference playoff appearances and has posted Top 3 league finishes in three of the past four seasons. Wagers has a 63-15 record in MIAC games in the past four years and a 79-39 mark in her seven seasons on the bench at Concordia.
Metcalf averaged 17.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, shot 48.0% from the field and 86.6% from the free throw line in the 18 conference games for the Cobbers. She was in the Top 10 in the MIAC in all five statistical categories. She finished third in scoring, tied for fourth in rebounds, second in blocked shots, eighth in field goal percentage and fourth in success from the foul line.
Metcalf scored at least 10 points in all but two league games and had seven games where she posted 20 or more points. Metcalf had a career-high 32 points in the Cobbers' win at St. Catherine.
Metcalf came away with a double-digit rebound total in five games which helped her come away with five double-doubles on the year. Her highwater mark for rebounds came against St. Benedict when she grabbed 16 boards.
Musland had a breakout year in 2026 and finished in the Top 25 in the MIAC in 3-point field goal percentage, 3-pointers made, scoring, field goal percentage and assists. Musland was second in the league in 3-point field goal percentage (49.3%), fifth in total 3-pointers made (36), sixth in 25th in scoring (10.0 ppg), 11th in field goal percentage (45.7%) and tied for 12th in assists (2.3 assists/game).
Musland's top scoring game against Carleton when she went 8-for-13 from the floor and finished with 24 points. She had at least 10 points in nine games. Musland's only double-double of the year also came against the Knights when she grabbed a season-high 10 boards and scored 14 points.
Jeffrey was third on the team in scoring in league games. She averaged 7.5 points in the 17 MIAC games she played. Jeffrey also averaged 3.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists in conference play.
Jeffrey had eight double-digit scoring games and posted a season-high16 points at Macalester. She also had eight games where she recorded at least three assists. Jeffrey finished the year 11th in the MIAC in helpers.
Safranski was third in the conference in assists. She averaged 3.6 dimes in 18 league games.
Safranski, the team's point guard, was third on the team in rebounds (3.9 rpg). She also averaged 4.9 points per game and scored a season-high 12 points in Concordia's win over Hamline.
Safranski came away with 13 games where she had at least three assists and dropped a season-high eight helpers against Gustavus.
Rohloff found her college stride in the playoffs where quickness off the dribble helped her get to the basket on a frequent basis. She averaged 10.0 points, 2.5 assists and shot 70.0% in the Cobbers' two conference playoff games.
