Metcalf Starts 2026 The Same Way She Ended 2025
Sophomore Maya Metcalf started 2026 the same way she finished 2025 – by earning MIAC Player of the Week honors. Metcalf used her 10 rebounds per game average to collect her third conference player of the week honor this season. It is her second MIAC Defensive Player of the Week award.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/05/26)---Sophomore Maya Metcalf (West Fargo, N.D./West Fargo Sheyenne HS) started 2026 the same way she finished 2025 – by earning MIAC Player of the Week honors.
Metcalf used her 10 rebounds per game average to collect her third conference player of the week honor this season. It is her second MIAC Defensive Player of the Week award.
Metcalf finished the break by averaging 10.0 rebounds, 14.0 points and 3.0 assists in the three Cobber victories.
Metcalf added six blocks and a steal on the defensive end to help Concordia improve to 10-1 on the year, giving the Cobbers their best start to a season since winning the NCAA Division III National Championship in 1988.
After collecting six boards, two blocked shots, and a pair of steals in a win over Howard Payne, Metcalf hauled down a season-high 15 rebounds to go along with another block in a two-point victory over Hardin-Simmons the following day. She then added nine boards, three blocks, and a steal in a decisive victory over St. Scholastica on to hand the Saints their first loss of the season in conference play.
Metcalf has posted four double-digit rebound performances in four games this year. She has also scored at least 10 points in 10 straight games and has led the Cobbers in points in eight of the 11 games this year. She has also been tops in rebounds in nine contests.
