Musland’s Career Day Leads Cobbers Past Wis.-Stout
Molly Musland starred in Concordia’s 81–66 victory over UW-Stout on Saturday, scoring a career-high 24 points to pace the Cobbers to a strong all-around performance. Concordia jumped out early on its home floor in Moorhead and maintained control with balanced scoring from Musland, Kaia Gack, and Maya Metcalf, fending off multiple Stout runs to secure the win.
MOORHEAD, MINN, (11/16/25) – Concordia set the tone early on its home floor in Moorhead, executing sharply on both ends. Molly Musland got the Cobbers going with a layup on the first possession, and Maci Wheeldon added a free throw to make it 3–0. Concordia's defense forced early turnovers, and Taya Jeffrey converted a second-chance bucket to push the lead to 5–0.
Stout scored its first basket at 7:47 and briefly tied the game, but Musland responded immediately with a three. The Cobbers' defensive pressure created turnovers that led to transition points from Genevieve Gruba, while Musland added another three-pointer. Concordia controlled the paint with Maya Metcalf finishing through contact and Gruba adding another layup, giving the Cobbers a 19–11 lead after the first quarter.
The Cobbers carried that momentum into the second quarter. Kaia Gack knocked down back-to-back jumpers to stretch the lead to 23–11, and a steal by Jeffrey led to another easy basket. Stout chipped away, but Concordia responded each time—Wheeldon finished an and-one, Gruba attacked the lane, Musland added a driving layup, and Kaitlyn Rohloff sank two free throws to maintain a 35–31 halftime advantage.
The third quarter was a back-and-forth battle. Stout took its first lead at 36–35 on a fast-break layup, but Concordia quickly answered with Musland's pull-up jumper and Wheeldon's free throw. Both teams traded baskets and free throws through much of the period. In the final minute and a half, Concordia regained the lead with layups from Gack, Musland, and Metcalf, and a free throw from Brooklyn Christianson, finishing the quarter up 57–54.
In the fourth, the Cobbers took control early. Musland and Gack scored in transition to push the lead to 61–56. Concordia continued to capitalize on turnovers and second-chance opportunities, with key baskets from Safranski and Metcalf extending the advantage. Stout made a late push, including a three from Rosella Wille, but Concordia's defense and timely scoring kept the Blue Devils at bay. The Cobbers closed the game on a 10–0 run, capped by fast-break layups and free throws from Safranski, Gack, Metcalf, and Musland, for a decisive 81–66 victory.
Concordia shot 48% (27-56) from the field and 27% (4-15) from three-point range, while grabbing 39 rebounds (27 defensive, 12 offensive). Musland recorded a career-high 24 points, Gack also had a career-high point total with 18, and Metcalf contributed 12 points with a team-high 8 rebounds. Taylor Safranski led the team with 5 assists, while Gack added 4.
