Cobbers Host Annual Senior Celebration Day
MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/25/26)---The final home Saturday always means Senior Celebration Day for the Cobbers and Concordia honored its five seniors between games of their doubleheader with Bethel.
Concordia wasn't able to get their offense on track in the opener and fell 9-0 but then battled to the end of Game only to drop a 7-4 decision.
The Cobbers didn't come up with a hit in the first game but hit the ball solid all game long and put three runners on base via the walk. CC only struck out once and had several hard hit "at 'em" balls in the game that wasn't decided until the fifth inning.
Bethel scored three times in the first, added a single score in the third before putting the game out of reach with a 5-spot in the fifth.
Kegen Coulson started the opener and went 4.2 innings with Lauren Kohlgraf getting the final out in the fifth.
The second game started the exact same way with the Royals posting three runs in the first. They would tack on a single run in the second and three more in the fourth before the Cobber bats came alive.
CC scored its first run of the day in the fourth when hammered a ball over the left-center field fence. It was her second long ball of the year, and she now has a .490 slugging percentage in conference play.
The Cobbers plated two more runs in the sixth. Reese Hauck connected on her team-leading fifth home run and Plante came through with her second RBI of the game on a single to center field that sent home Kate Gulbranson after Gulbranson got aboard on a single to right field.
Hauck has a .527 slugging percentage for the year and is tied for the team in extra-base hits with 11.
Concordia would finish off the score line in the seventh on a run-scoring ground out from Megan Guggisberg. Kailee Falconer reached on a fielder's choice, advanced to second on a single from Morgan Guggisberg and reached third courtesy of a passed ball.
The Cobbers came through with nine hits in Game 2. Falconer and Plante both had 2-hit games. As they combined to go 4-for-7 with two runs scored and two RBI.
Senior Mallory Leitner opened in the circle and went 4.0 innings. Kohlgraf entered the game in the fifth and didn't allow a run in the final 3.0 innings. She only conceded one hit in her second stint of the day.
