Folkestad & Goss Help Cobbers Climb To Fourth Place At MIAC Meet

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (5/09/26)---Concordia used the arms of its throw crew and the legs of Tyler Goss to move up two spots in the team standings and finish in a tie for fourth place at the MIAC Outdoor Championship Meet.
It is the second straight season that the Cobbers have placed fourth at the outdoor meet and the third time in the past five seasons they have finished in the Top 5.
Cooper Folkestad and Goss claimed the only event wins on Saturday at St. Olaf but CC had plenty of podium finishes to gain 51 points in the team standings.
Folkestad earned his second shot put crown in the last three seasons by posting a distance of 59-09.75. He was one of three Cobbers who earned team points in the event.
Blake Houska was fourth at 50-05.25 and Sam Dioszeghy placed eighth at 48-08.00. The three Top 8 finishes earned CC 16 team points.
Houska was also fourth in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 169-00.
Goss made it two straight steeplechase conference wins for the Goss family. A year after brother Brady claimed the title, Tyler crossed the line in a season-best time of 9:13.01 and won the race by 14.74 seconds.
Eli Hegland, Ethan Lebrija, Ryan Richardson and Hayden Hauf also scored team points for the Cobbers on Day 2 of the meet.
Hegland was fourth in the high jump after he cleared the bar at 6-03.25. Lebrija placed fourth in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 21.80, while Richardson was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best mark of 55.46 and Hauf placed eighth in the 110-meter hurdles with a PR time of 15.48.
The Cobbers also scored team points in the final event of the meet when the 4x400-meter relay team of Richardson, Trevor Tiongson, Brady Andrews and Michael Crowder clocked a season-best time of 3:21.15.
Next up for the Cobbers is a trip to La Crosse, Wis. For the annual NCAA Last Chance Meet on Thursday, May 14.
