MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/02/26)---It was a beautiful day for track and field and a Senior Celebration Ceremony. Concordia honored its senior before the Cobb Open on Saturday and then had numerous season-best marks and Top 10 MIAC performances during the course of the meet.
The Cobber throw crew led the way with a pair of event wins and four Top 3 finishes. It was only fitting that senior Cooper Folkestad claimed the title in the shot put in the final home meet of his career. Folkestad put up a distance of 60-01.00, which is shy of his season-best mark, but still won the event by almost feet. To add more perspective to Folkestad's dominance in the event, his winning mark on Saturday, would have also won the shot put at University of Georgia DI meet where the Univ. of Minnesota competed at.
Junior Eli Hayes was the other event winner in the throwing events. He unleashed a season-best toss of 180-00 to win the event. That mark is No.4 in the MIAC this season.
Senior teammate Jacob Pipho finished second behind Hayes. He also had a season-best distance. Pipho came away with a mark of 175-09 which is No.5 in the conference.
Sam Dioszeghy had his best meet of the spring with a pair of Top 5 finishes. Dioszeghy was third in the discus with a season-best mark of 146-11.00. That distance is seventh best in the MIAC. He also put up the No.7 mark in the conference in the shot put with a mark of 50-02.5. His distance was good for a fourth-place finish at the meet.
Senior Ricky Ramirez punched his ticket to the MIAC Championship Meet in the discus. He had a season-best distance of 134-00 which was good for a sixth-place finish.
Tyler Goss and Ethan Lebrija had a pair of standout performances on the track side. Goss set the facility record in the 3000-meter steeplechase when he crossed the line in 9:26.59. That time is 1.10 seconds off his 2026 top time which is No.1 in the MIAC.
Lebrija sprinted his way into the Top 10 in the conference in the 100-meter dash and also placed third in the 200 meters. Lebrija clocked a 10.89 in the prelims of the 100 meters which moves him into the No.9 spot in the MIAC.
Lebrija chose not to compete in the finals of 100M and elected to race in the 200 meters where he posted a third-place time of 22.60.
The hurdling tandem of Logan Clark and Hayden Hauf posted Top 11 conference times in the 110-meter hurdles. Hauf placed third in the event with a time of 15.49 and Clark was close behind at 15.88. Both marks are season bests.
Ryan Richardson gave the Cobbers a trio of season-best marks in the hurdle events. Richardson clocked a 56.31 to finish second in the 400-meter hurdles. His time is No.6 in the MIAC this year.
The Cobber jump squad was led by sophomore Eli Hegland, who recorded Top 3 finishes in the high jump and long jump. Heglund cleared 6-00.00 in the high jump to place third and came away with a runner-up distance of 21-05.25 in the long jump. Heglund has Top 7 marks in the MIAC in both events this year.
