If You Give A Mouse A Cookie Then Cooper Wins Another MIAC Weekly Award
Cooper Folkestad (Sr., Wadena, Minn./Wadena-Deer Creek HS) continues to break record in the throwing circles and also continues to break Cobber records for conference weekly honors.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/14/26)---Cooper Folkestad (Sr., Wadena, Minn./Wadena-Deer Creek HS) continues to break record in the throwing circles and also continues to break Cobber records for conference weekly honors.
In case you were out of town over the weekend and didn't have any access to your phone or the internet, Folkestad went monster in the shot put at the NDSU Spring Classic, broke his own school record by two feet and recorded the third farthest distance in Division III history.
And since he had the record-setting feat on Sunday, you cane use the "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" theorem to predict that he earned the MIAC Field Athlete of the Week honor on Tuesday.
The conference weekly award is the second straight for Folkestad and seventh outdoor MIAC weekly honor that Folkestad has won in his career. It also happens to be his ninth overall award for both indoor and outdoor seasons. And yes, both numbers are program record and yes, both will likely never be touched.
Folkestad's unheard of distance of 63-02.25 broke his old school mark of 61-01.25. It is currently the top mark in NCAA Division III, No.11 in Division I and No.2 in DII.
Stay tuned next week to see if he can keep going farther and win more awards when he competes at the SJU Invitational on Thursday, Apr. 16.
