FARGO, N.D. (2/8/25)---Sophomore Brady Goss decided to get in on the early-season Cobber track & field trend of breaking school records as he knocked off the program mark in the indoor mile.
Goss' record-setting mark was a part of Concordia's 2-day performance at the NDSU Bison Open and Multi-Event Meet which saw the Cobbers come away with multiple Top 20 MIAC and Cobber all-time marks.
Goss was the star of the meet for the Cobbers. He broke the school record in the mile placing third, with a time of 4:12.38. The old school was set by former Cobber, and current assistant coach, Munir Isahak with a time of 4:14.52.
Goss's time went under the previous meet record and is the fastest time in the MIAC all year. That time is also the fourth fastest mile run in the MIAC since 2018 and puts Goss 14th overall in all of Division III this year.
Goss paired his mile PR with another PR in the 3000. Goss took sixth with a time of 8:36.44. That time is eighth in the MIAC this year and is fourth on the all-time list for the Cobbers.
The next performance that breaks into the Top 10 all-time list came from Brady Goss's brother, Tyler Goss. Goss had two massive PRs over the Friday-Saturday meet. Goss took over 29 seconds off his 3000 time. His time of 8:46.71 was good for 11th place in the meet, ranks 13th in the MIAC this year and is No.8 on the all-time list for the Cobbers.
Goss followed up his impressive performance with an equally impressive showing in the mile. Goss ran over a 4-second PR and is now tied for 19th on the all-time list. His time of 4:25 placed him 12th overall in the meet. That time is also ranked 11th in the MIAC this year.
The Goss brothers set the tone for the CC track athletes as Jordan Petron had a Top 5 all-time performance of his own. Petron ran 22.72 in the 200, placing him 12th in the meet. That time jumps Petron all the way to fifth on the all-time list for the Cobbers. Petron also moves into the sixth position in the MIAC rankings.
Trevor Tiongson and Brayden Carlson wanted to add their names to the all-time list as well. Tiongson took seventh in the rarely contested 300 meters. His time of 35.95 puts him third on the all-time Cobber list.
Tiongson also added 100 meters and ran the 400. He was able to maintain his ranking of fourth in the MIAC this year with a season-best time of 51.08.
Carlson followed in Tiongson's footsteps as he posted a time of 51.14 in the 400 to move him to fifth in the MIAC this year. That time also puts him 15th on the all-time list for the Cobbers. Carlson was also able to break into the Top 15 in the MIAC rankings in the 600. His time of 1:24.85 placed him 15th overall in the meet.
In the high jump, the Cobbers had a trio post Top 15 marks. Peyton Johnsrud was the highest finisher, placing seventh with a height of 6-04.00. That mark moves him into sole possession of second in the MIAC rankings this year. Peyton Kessel moved into a tie for eighth overall in the MIAC rankings with a jump of 6-02.00. That height was a personal best for Kessel and helped him place 12th in the meet. Anthony Marsh was able to clear the 6-00.00 margin placing 15th overall on the day.
Rounding out the jumping events was a pair of fifth-place finishes. Tyler Evans, the ninth-ranked pole-vaulter in the MIAC this year, was able to clear 13-05.25 on his way to his fifth-place finish. Tommy Schreiner made a leap of 22-03.00 in the long jump for his fifth-place finish. Schreiner is currently ranked third in the MIAC this year.
Cooper Folkestad had the highest finish for the Cobbers at the meet. Folkestad finished third overall in the shot put with a toss of 52-00.00. Folkestad is currently ranked second in the MIAC this year. Blake Houska placed 12th overall with a throw of 47-11.25. He now ranks eighth in the MIAC this year.
