MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/05/23)---He's in! Senior Hayden Gagnon is officially in the NCAA Division III National Indoor Meet.
Gagnon received confirmation from the NCAA that his time in the 400 meters at the Wartburg Last Chance Qualifier pushed into the Top 20 of DIII which receives an invitation to the national meet.

Gagnon had the race of his life on Saturday when he posted a career-best time of 48.98 in the second heat at Wartburg.
Since the DIII National Meet will be held on a banked track at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala., all times need to be adjusted for the difference between flat tracks – which Gagnon ran on at Wartburg – and a banked track. Gagnon's time goes through an adjustment process, which is more difficult to understand than quantum physics, and comes out as 48.22.
The adjusted time of 48.22 put Gagnon into the No.18 spot which was .07 of a second above the Top 20 cutline.
Gagnon will be competing in his second consecutive DIII National Indoor Meet. He ran on last year's 4x400-meter relay team.
Gagnon will compete in his very first individual event at a national meet when he steps to the starting line for the prelims of the 400 meters on Friday, Mar. 10 at 3:05 p.m. (cst).
