Peterson & Schepp Primed For Nationals
Emma Peterson and Jackson Schepp will represent Concordia at the NCAA National Indoor Meet.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/08/17)--- One Cobber is going for a potential national championship and her second All-American honor while the other Cobber will be competing in his first-ever NCAA National Championship Meet.
Senior Emma Peterson and Jackson Schepp are on opposite sides of the national meet spectrum but both are riding the wave of MIAC championships as they enter the NCAA National Indoor Meet held at North Central College in Naperville, Ill. on Mar. 10-11.

Peterson set conference records in both the high jump and triple jump in winning the events at the MIAC Championship Meet on Feb. 24-25. She won the high jump with a record-setting height of 5-07.75 and was victorious in the triple jump with a distance of 38-09.75.
Peterson's high jump mark puts her tied for the No.5 spot in Division III heading into the national meet this weekend while her triple jump is seventh farthest in the nation. Peterson has decided not to compete in the triple jump to concentrate solely on her bid for a national title in the high jump as both events will be held on Saturday.
Peterson, who earned All-American honors in the high jump at last year's NCAA Outdoor National Meet, will begin her quest for a second All-American award on Saturday, Mar. 11 at 1 p.m.
Schepp will be the newcomer at the national meet this weekend. He earned his spot among the best of Division III by winning the heptathlon at the MIAC Championship Meet with a school-record total of 4,884 points. It was the second straight MIAC heptathlon title for Schepp who is the No.6 seed heading into the NCAA meet. His goal for the two-day event is to finish in the Top 8 which would earn him All-American honors.
Schepp is the first Cobber men's track and field athlete to compete at the NCAA National Indoor Meet since 2009 when Paul Westmark and Paul Schol competed in the pentathlon.
Schepp will start his first-ever NCAA National Meet experience on Friday, Mar. 10 when he competes in the 60-meter dash at 10 a.m. The 60-meter dash is the first of four events on Friday. Schepp will also compete in the long jump, shot put and high jump. The heptathlon finishes off on Saturday, Mar. 11 with the 60-meter hurdles and pole vault.
