FARGO, N.D. (4/11/26)---Concordia used key doubles wins and straight-set singles victories to come away with a 4-3 win over Hamline in a back-and-forth MIAC contest.
The Cobbers took two of the three doubles bouts to claim the team point and then split singles play to earn the 1-point win and the crucial conference victory.
The win is the third straight for Concordia, who improves to 9-6 overall and 3-4 in MIAC play, while Hamline dropped to 3-11 overall and 1-4 in conference action. CC is now in sixth place in the conference standings in the race for the five postseason playoff berths.
The Cobbers picked up pivotal points in singles from Isaac Maddock at No. 2, Logan Sandberg at No. 3, and Ryan Bitz at No. 6. Maddock set the tone with a strong 6-3, 6-1 win over Matthew George, while Sandberg followed with a convincing 6-4, 6-1 victory against Brendon Sebring. Bitz sealed his match late for Concordia with a steady 6-4, 6-4 decision over Wesley Saunders. Ryoga Yano nearly added another point for the Cobbers at No. 1 but fell in a dramatic super tiebreaker after splitting tiebreakers in the first two sets.
Doubles play proved decisive for Concordia. After Hamline claimed the top flight, the Cobbers responded with wins at Nos. 2 and 3. Sandberg and Kai Kringlie earned a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles, while the duo of Kai Pierce and Carson Anderson closed out the doubles slate with a dominant 6-2 win at No. 3 to give Concordia the early edge heading into singles.
Concordia will put its 3-match win streak on the line when they host Macalester in the penultimate league match on Sunday, Apr. 12 at 1 p.m.
