ST. PAUL, Minn. (4/13/25)---Let the waiting begin.
Concordia closed out its MIAC regular season by cruising to a 6-3 win at Hamline. The victory moves the Cobbers' conference record to 4-5, and CC will have to wait almost two weeks until the rest of the league teams finish their season to see if their MIAC record is good enough to earn one of the six spots in the conference tournament.
On Sunday, Concordia was once again able to use the strength of their singles play to overcome a conference opponent. The Cobbers won five of the six single bouts and beat Hamline 6-3.
CC is now 18-6 in singles play against their last four MIAC opponents.
The victory is the fourth straight in conference play for Concordia – and sixth overall – as they finish out the MIAC regular season with a 4-5 record. CC is 7-8 in all matches this season.
The four conference wins and seven overall victories are the most since the 2018 season when CC finished fifth and made the conference postseason.
The lone win in doubles play against the Pipers came at No.1 doubles, where
Ryoga Yano showed up on time to team with
Isaac Maddock and come away with an 8-5 win. The duo is 6-5 on the year, and their six wins lads all Cobber doubles tandems.
Both Yano and Maddock turned around to post wins in singles play. Yano needed to go the super-set tie-breaker to record a 6-3, 4-6, 10-2 win at No.1 singles, while Maddock cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 straight set victory at No.2 singles.
Logan Sandberg and
Hunter Rice also earned wins in the tie-breaker. Sandberg posted a 1-6, 6-1, 10-7 win at No.3 singles and Rice came from behind to claim a 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 victory at No.6 singles.
Sandberg's singles win was his eighth of the year, which leads all Cobber players.
Kai Pierce closed out the team win with a 6-3, 6-4 romp at No.4 singles.
Concordia will close out the regular season with a pair of non-conference matches. CC will play at Northwestern on Wednesday, Apr. 16 at 4 p.m. and at Augustana (S.D.) on Friday, Apr. 18 at 2 p.m.
