Post-Florida Win Streak Continues
Concordia won four of its six singles matches against UMAC opponent Wis.-Superior and rallied to post a 4-3 win. The victory comes on the heels of Cobbers’ 7-2 win over St. Mary’s last weekend, and CC is now 2-0 since returning from Florida for its spring training trip.
FARGO, N.D. (3/29/25)---It took Concordia six matches in the spring portion of their schedule to get warmed up, and now the Cobbers have won three straight.
Concordia won four of the six singles matches against UMAC opponent Wis.-Superior and rallied to post a 4-3 win (note – all non-conference matches in 2025 are being played as 7-point matches with doubles play only counting as one point).
The victory comes on the heels of Cobbers' 7-2 win over St. Mary's last weekend, and CC is now 2-0 since returning from Florida for its spring training trip.
Concordia dropped two of the three doubles bouts against the Yellowjackets to fall behind 1-0 heading into singles play. The pair of Kai Pierce and Daniel Skrade had the only win in doubles play. They came through with a 7-5 victory at No.3 doubles.
The Cobbers got straight-set wins in singles play from Isaac Maddock, Logan Sandberg and Kai Kringlie to push the team match to the brink of a win.
Maddock and Sandberg posted identical score lines in their wins at No.2 and No.3 singles. Both players opened with a 6-3 win and brought their match home with a 7-5 victory in the second set.
Kringlie earned the "comeback of the match" award as he was down 5-4 in the first set at No., rallied to win 7-6 (5), and used that momentum to record a 7-5 win in the second set.
No.1 singles player Ryoga Yano was tasked with closing out the team win, and he produced a 3-set thriller. He won 6-4 in the first set, lost his way in the second and fell 6-1. Yano regained his game and then outlasted his opponent to claim the 6-4 win and give the Cobbers the 4-3 win in the team score.
Concordia will look to make it four straight when they host St. Scholastica on Sunday, Mar. 30 at 1 p.m. at Courts Plus.
