MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/4/26) — Concordia used a pair of third-period goals to secure a 3–1 win over Hamline in a non-conference game on Wednesday night. The Cobbers move to 9-8-2 on the year following their win over the Pipers.
The Cobbers struck first midway through the opening period when Blake Johnson capitalized on the power play at 8:11 of the first, burying a feed from Ryan Roethke and Caden Triggs to give Concordia an early 1–0 advantage. The goal marked Johnson's second of the season.
Hamline applied pressure throughout the first two periods, but Dane Couture stood tall in net for Concordia, turning aside multiple scoring chances to preserve the lead.
The Pipers evened the score early in the third period when Nicolas Haviar scored at 4:14, assisted by Jack Whitmore Jr, knotting the game at 1–1.
Concordia quickly responded. At 11:08 of the third, Roethke netted the game-winning goal at even strength, finishing a setup from Gavin Waltz to put the Cobbers back in front. Just over two minutes later, Joseph Harguindeguy added an unassisted goal at 13:16, extending the lead to 3–1 and sealing the outcome.
Hamline pulled its goalie late and generated several chances, but Couture remained composed down the stretch to close out the win.
Couture finished with 27 saves on 28 shots to claim his 4th win of the season. Roethke finished with one goal and one assist on the night.
Concordia finished the night 1-for-3 on the power play and outlasted Hamline in a physical, tightly contested matchup.
The Cobbers travel to Hamline's home rink Friday night for a 7:00 PM puck drop.
