Third-Period Surge Lifts Cobbers Past Blugolds
A tight 1–1 game through two periods turned into a Cobber showcase as Concordia erupted in the third to secure a 4–1 road win over UW–Eau Claire. Behind steady goaltending and timely scoring, the Cobbers dominated the final frame to close out the weekend opener.
Eau Claire, Wis. (11/14/25) – Concordia used a dominant special-teams effort and a pair of clutch third-period goals to skate past UW–Eau Claire, 4–1, on Friday night. The Cobbers outshot the Blugolds in all three periods and finished with 32 shots on goal while allowing just one.
The Cobbers broke through early in the second period after a scoreless first frame. Following a tripping penalty on Eau Claire, Concordia capitalized on the power play when Blake Johnson hammered home his first goal of the season at 1:39. Carson Triggs and Patrick Dunaiski picked up assists on the go-ahead tally.
Eau Claire answered just over three minutes later, pulling even at 1–1 on an unassisted goal from Logan Ganz. Late in the period, the Cobbers went back to the power play after a Blugold roughing penalty and generated a pair of quality scoring chances, but couldn't break the tie. The teams headed to the locker room knotted at 1–1.
Freshman Jackson Lucia delivered the eventual game-winner at 3:51 of the third, scoring unassisted to put the Cobbers back in front. Concordia controlled the pace the rest of the way, and with just under two minutes left, Carson Triggs doubled the lead with his second goal of the season, set up by brother Caden Triggs.
With the Blugolds' net empty, Caden Triggs sealed the win at 19:28, firing home an unassisted empty-netter, his third goal of the year, to push the final to 4–1.
Goaltender Noel Olsonawski was steady all night, stopping every shot he saw aside from the lone second-period goal and finished with 22 saves.
Concordia improves to 2-2-1 with the win and continues its Wisconsin road trip tomorrow when they face University of Wisconsin River Falls at 7:00 PM tomorrow night.
