DULUTH, Minn. (5/02/26)---Concordia closed out its season in winning fashion as they swept their season-ending doubleheader at St. Scholastica.
The Cobbers never trailed in the opener and came away with a 4-1 win. CC then pulled off a ninth-inning rally to tie Game 2 and send it into extra innings before prevailing 9-6 in 11 innings.
It's the second sweep of the MIAC season for the Cobbers who finish the year at 14-21 in all games and 8-12 in conference play. The Saints end the year with a 21-18 overall mark and a 9-11 record against league opponents.
While the doubleheader was the last for the Cobbers seniors, the day belonged to a pair of first-year hitters. Jack Primus and Matt Contreras both had career days as they had hits in both games and both had at least four hits in the finale.
Primus went 5-for-5 in Game 2, finished the day by going 6-for-8 and had a Jose Bautista-esque bat flip after his home run in the opener. Contreras was 4-for-6 with four RBI in the nightcap and went 5-for-9 with a double and a triple.
David Revering factored in both games on the mound for Concordia. He came away with his second save of the season in Game 1 and then pitched the final 2.2 innings in Game 2 to record his first collegiate win.
Game 1: Concordia 4, St. Scholastica 1
The Cobbers scored the first three runs in the opener as they plated a pair in the second and then added a third in the third.
Ben Shumansky drove in the first run and Drew Dorsey's fielder's choice ground ball gave CC a 2-0 lead.
Mason Henry staked Concordia to a 3-0 lead when he singled through the right side to score Luke Knudsen.
The final Cobber run came on Primus' 2-out blast in the fifth inning. The long ball was his second of the season.
Concordia finished Game 1 with eight hits with Dorsey posting the only muti-hit game.
Wyatt Mohr got a rare start on the bump and lasted 5.0 innings to pick up the win. Clayton Erickson picked up the hold with a scoreless sixth and Revering worked out of a first-and-second, 2-out jam to record the save.
Game 2: Concordia 9, St. Scholastica 6 (11 innings)
Concordia held a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, but the Saints scored four times to take a 5-2 lead. They took a 6-4 lead into the ninth and then Concordia tied the game on a Contreras double and a passed ball that allowed Primus to score the game-tying run.
The winning runs came in the 11th when Primus walked to lead off the frame and scored on a Contreras triple. Contreras crossed the plate one batter later on a double from Dorsey. Dorsey would make the final 9-6 when he trotted home on a James Stigman sacrifice fly.
Concordia pounded out a conference-high 15 hits in the game. Primus and Contreras combined for nine of the 15 hits with Dorsey adding a pair and Knudsen, Henry, Luke Van Erp and Alex Anderson adding single-hit games.
The Cobbers used five pitchers in the final game of 2026. Grant Anderson got the start and went the first 5.1 innings. He only allowed one hit and one run and struck out three.
Grant Paffrath, Vann Olson and Thad Lieser got CC to the ninth inning and handed the ball to Revering. Lieser pitched 1.1 innings and didn't concede a run.
