Horan & Nold Lead Cobber MIAC Postseason Crew
Thomas Horan and Jacoby Nold led a group of five Cobbers who received MIAC postseason honors. Horan and Nold were both placed on the MIAC All-Conference Team.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/14/24)---Concordia had five players receive MIAC postseason honors as selected by the conference coaches it was announced on Tuesday.
Senior Thomas Horan (Moorhead, Minn.) and junior Jacoby Nold (Jamestown, N.D.) were named to the MIAC All-Conference Team, while first-year pitcher Grant Anderson (Dilworth, Minn./Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton HS) and juniors David Dorsey (Delano, Minn.) and Alex Rudquist (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Lourdes HS) all garnered MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention honors.

Horan is the only player of the Cobber five honorees to be awarded a conference postseason honor for the second time. Horan also received MIAC All-Conference honors in 2023. Concordia has now had 13 conference postseason award winners in the past two years.
Horan played in all 20 conference games this season and led the team in hitting. He posted a .378 average that included a team-high 28 hits. He also came through with a .460 on-base percentage and a .514 slugging percentage.
Horan was one of the keys to the Cobbers' playoff drive in the last 10 games of the year. He finished the year by going 11-for-16 in the final four games of the season and hit safely in 10 of the last 11 games of the year. Horan also recorded a pair of milestones during the year. He posted his 100th career RBI and passed former head coach Chris Coste for second place on the school's all-time hit list.
Nold was Concordia's No.1 pitcher against MIAC opponents. He started the year slowly but then came on to finish with a 2.61 earned run average in five starts and 31.0 innings in conference play. Nold won three of his last five starts and pitched complete games in all three of those wins.
Nold ended the year with the fourth-best ERA in the conference and was in the Top 10 in innings pitched and strikeouts (26).
Anderson had a solid season in his first year of collegiate baseball. He started four games in conference play and went 2-1 with a 2.66 ERA. His ERA was No.5 in the MIAC and he limited opponents to a .233 average, which was ninth-best in the league.
Dorsey hit .338 in 20 conference games. He hit safely in 15 of those games and had a 10-game hit streak to finish the year. Dorsey also posted an eye-opening 10 multiple-hit games in MIAC play and had two hits in each of the final four contests. Dorsey led the team in home runs (3), RBI (24) and slugging percentage (.571) during the year.
Rudquist was seventh among all MIAC pitchers in opponent's batting average. He held league hitters to a .228 average in his four conference starts. Rudquist went 3-1 for the Cobbers and pitched in 25.0 innings. His top game of the year came against St. Scholastica when he went 6.0 innings, while only allowing one earned run and striking out five.
