Wahlin And Sederquist Pick Up Where They Left Off
Carl Wahlin and Ryan Sederquist posted top 10 finishes to lead Concordia to third place at the Jamestown Invite.
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (10/10/14)—Carl Wahlin and Ryan Sederquist made sure a two-week break didn't slow down their early-season success as the two posted top 10 finishes and helped Concordia place third at the Jamestown Invite.
Wahlin and Sederquist have pushed each other throughout the season and it once again paid were among the top 7 runners in a field of 56 athletes. Sederquist led Wahlin throughout the course of the 8k race but Wahlin was able to break free at the end and finish fifth in a time of 26:35.00. Sederquist was close behind, crossing the line at 26:41.00 and placed seventh. It marks the third top 5 finish of the season for Wahlin while Sederquist has his third top 10 of the year.
Wahlin and Sederquist were the only Concordia runners to place in the top 20. Erik Larson ran a season-best 8K time with a mark of 28:07.00. His time was good for 22nd place. Larson's previous best 8k time came at the MSU Moorhead Invite when he clocked a 28:16.7.
Brendan Johnson and Aaron Larkin rounded out the scoring top 5 for the Cobbers. Both runners placed in the top 40 of the meet. Johnson came home in 28:30.00 and was in 30th place while Larkin finished in the No.38 spot with a time of 29:20.00.
Concordia will host the Cobber 5k Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 11 and then return to competitive action when they compete at the Drews/Neubauer Invite hosted by Wis.-La Crosse on Saturday, Oct. 18.
