ST. PAUL, Minn. (4/5/25)---A group of 13 Cobber athletes braved the weather at Hamline Invitational.
The select crew was able to come away with season-best times, a couple of personal-best marks and a pair of Top 10 finishes.
The crew featured 12 middle distance and distance runners and senior Jakob Brown, who represented the Concordia field crew.
The career-best times belonged to Brayden Carlson and Jonas Hagemeister, who were a part of a group of five athletes who ran in the 800 meters.
Carlson led the quintet with a PR time of 2:02.48. That time gets him into the Top 15 of the conference this year.
Hagemeister crossed the line in 2:07.73, which is also a PR and will most likely qualify him for the MIAC Meet.
The pair of Top 10 finishes in St. Paul belonged to the Running Goss brothers. Both Brady Goss and Tyler Goss opened their season accounts in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Brady covered the course in a time of 9:31.96. He was the top non-Minnesota Gopher runner in the race as he placed fourth in an event that featured Division I, II and III athletes.
Brady Goss' time is No.2 in the conference this season.
Tyler Goss came home with a mark of 9:59.50 to post the second-fastest non-DI or DII time. His finishing time was good for seventh place and is No.4 in the MIAC.
Gavin Groshelle was the fastest CC finisher in the 1500 meters and Carter Ferber led the Cobber group in the 5000 meters. Groshelle recorded a time of 4:26.25, while Ferber crossed the line in 16:30.53. Ferber's time jumps him into the Top 20 of the conference this year.
Brown competed in the trifecta of field events. He had a distance of 37-10 in the discus, threw the hammer 100-02 and posted a mark of 104-04 in the discus.
Concordia will look for better weather when they compete in the NDSU Spring Invite on Friday, Apr. 11 at 3 p.m.
